Bitget Launches Industry-First Quanto Perpetual Futures for TradFi Assets
Bitget has launched the first Quanto Perpetual Futures for traditional finance assets, allowing traders to use USDT for non-USD-denominated stocks without currency conversion.
What Are Bitget's New Quanto Perpetual Futures?
Bitget, recognized as the world's largest Universal Exchange, has just unveiled an exciting development in the world of derivatives. On July 21, 2026, the exchange announced the launch of the industry's first Quanto Perpetual Futures specifically designed for traditional financial (TradFi) assets. This innovative structure enables traders to engage with non-USD-denominated stocks using USDT, eliminating the need for currency conversion.
Why Is This Important for Traders?
The debut contract, cleverly named MINIMAXHKDUSDT, tracks the Hong Kong-based AI company, MiniMax. Trading on this contract commenced earlier today, and it comes with a staggering leverage option of up to 20x, available exclusively on Bitget. This means that traders can now price the underlying stock in its local currency (either HKD for Hong Kong stocks or JPY for Japanese stocks) while settling all margin fees and realized profits in USDT. Essentially, the value is treated as 1:1 with USDT, meaning that the price movements of the contract directly mirror those of the underlying stock without the complication of fiat currency.
How Does It Work?
The Quanto structure addresses a common pain point for traders. Previously, someone interested in buying Hong Kong stocks in HKD would need to convert USDT to HKD, exposing them to exchange rate risks. With this new system, that conversion risk is entirely erased. If a trader opens a long position of 10 MINIMAXHKDUSDT contracts at a price of 30 and later closes it at 50, they earn 200 USDT. This is simply calculated as (50 - 30) times 10, and the entire transaction is settled directly in USDT without any forex conversion involved. This removal of barriers is significant for global traders seeking easy access to non-USD stocks.
Is Bitget Capitalizing on a Growing Market?
The launch of Quanto Perpetual Futures comes at a time when the market for TradFi perpetuals is experiencing rapid growth. According to TokenInsight’s Q2 2026 cryptocurrency exchanges Report, monthly volumes swelled from approximately $52 billion in January to an impressive $268 billion by June—marking a remarkable fivefold increase. Within this booming landscape, Bitget has stood out, generating around $69 billion in TradFi perpetual volume during Q2 alone, capturing a notable 11.01% market share and securing its place as the second-largest exchange in this segment.
What Innovations Has Bitget Introduced Recently?
Bitget has consistently pushed for innovation over the past year. Besides the launch of these Quanto contracts, the exchange has made TradFi a core aspect of its offerings, rather than just an added feature. Earlier initiatives included:
- Tokenized stock perpetual contracts that offer synthetic exposure to publicly traded companies with USDT settlement and up to 100x leverage.
- CFD trading introduced in late 2025, allowing access to global equities, commodities, and forex with stablecoin settlement.
- IPO Prime, launched in April 2026, which is the first-ever Pre-IPO trading service powered by Republic, giving users exposure to notable private companies like SpaceX before their public listing.
- July’s introduction of US stock options, allowing for long call and long put strategies on US-listed equities, alongside crypto and CFD trading.
What Are Traders Saying?
"Quanto contracts are not new in crypto derivatives, but no major exchange has applied the structure to traditional financial assets until now," said Gracy Chen, CEO at Bitget. She noted, "From Pre-IPO access to US stock options, we are building a trading environment where crypto infrastructure serves global financial markets. The Quanto contracts remove the last barrier for global traders: currency conversion."
What Should Traders Expect Next?
The new MINIMAXHKD Quanto Perpetual Contracts are now available for trading on Bitget, supporting 24/7 trading, and featuring funding rate settlements every eight hours. As the exchange continues to bridge the gap between the cryptocurrency and traditional markets, it's likely that we'll see even more innovative offerings in the near future.
